Before You Start

Before setting up Marty Media Server, make sure your system meets the basic requirements.
In general, Marty Media Server benefits from a modern multi-core CPU. Video processing and transcoding can be CPU-intensive, especially when working with high-resolution media.
At the moment, hardware acceleration is not supported, so all encoding tasks are handled by the CPU. For that reason, systems with more cores and higher clock speeds will provide a better experience.
Typical things to consider for a self-hosted media server include:
- CPU performance: important for transcoding and media processing
- Storage capacity: sufficient space for your media library, metadata, and generated files
- Network bandwidth: especially important for remote streaming and multiple simultaneous accounts
